Colonel Carlisle A. Lincoln, III.

Colonel Carlisle Lincoln is the Joint Forces Headquarters Air (JFHQ – Air) Chief of Staff (COS) for the Alaska Air National Guard, Ft Richardson Alaska. His responsibilities include oversight over 2000 Alaska National Guard members who support airlift, rescue, aerial refueling, air control, and space warning and surveillance missions as well as deploy within the state and worldwide in support of humanitarian emergencies and national defense.

Colonel Lincoln enlisted in the Air Force under delayed enlistment program in May of 1977. After technical school, he was assigned to the 580th Bomb Wing at Plattsburgh AFB in New York as an integrated avionics technician on FB-111 aircraft. In October of 1980, He was then transferred to RAF Lakenheath England as a member of the 148th Tactical Fighter Wing as an attack/fire control technician on F-111F aircraft. In October of 1982, he left the Air Force and joined the 101st Air Refueling Wing, Maine Air National Guard in their instrument and autopilot shop while attending the University of Maine. In the summer of 1985 he received his commission as a second lieutenant and went to pilot training for the Maine Air National Guard. Upon completion, he was SIOP mission certified for SAC alert with the 132nd Air Refueling Squadron, Maine ANG until transferring to the 168th Air Refueling Group, Alaska Air National Guard where he has served as an instructor in the KC135 [A, D, E, R], RECCE mission director and instructor/evaluator and program manager for the OSA C-26B aircraft. In 1995, he worked as an Air Operations Officer directly for the Air Commander at state headquarters where he was involved in numerous projects pertaining to AKANG future missions while maintaining his flying status at Eielson. Colonel Lincoln has also served as Commander, 59th Expeditionary Rescue Squadron, CJTF 180, Kandahar Afghanistan during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in which 41 combat saves were awarded to his unit. Currently he is commander of the 176th Operations Group.
