Alaska Naval Militia
The Alaska Naval Militia was established in 1974 with one full-time employee who was stationed in Juneau. The organization was then retracted for a time and re-established in 1985. The Naval Militia is comprised, per Alaska Statute AS 26.05.010, of US Code Title 10 Federal Navy & Marine Corps Reservists who reside in Alaska and commit to service in the ANM as prescribed by AS 26.05.030. Additionally, 5% of the command is authorized to be in a Title 10 Retired status for the purpose of leadership continuity.
Strategic Direction
As a group of skilled individuals, fully integrate Naval Militia members into the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs according to their military occupational field through combined training and excercises. When called, members augment MVA on State Active Duty orders in their respective work centers and/or perform specific tasks as assigned.
